Casa Oro was the first hostel and surf school in San Juan del Sur. Before that it was an obligatory spot on the historic gold route through Central America. Today, Casa Oro is the first eco-hostel in San Juan del Sur, and a founding member of the Casa Oro Group, a family of for purpose businesses in pursuit of regeneration.
Just a hop, skip and a jump from the beach, Casa Oro offers a variety of budget-friendly accommodations designed with conscious backpackers in mind. We have both dorms (4-10 people) and private rooms available starting at just $13 per night. All dorm beds come equipped with colorful curtains for your privacy and oversized lockers for your security (bring your own lock). The entire space is filled with art, colorful murals, eco construction experiments, and chill vibes. The second and third floor boast a balcony that wraps around the entire street corner, great for people watching. Free delicious breakfast is included with your stay.

“I’ve stayed here three time now, and I LOVE it. We temporarily live just outside of town and don’t have a car, so we use the shuttle weekly and stay one night at Casa Or once a week to get groceries, etc. I’ll start by saying: CONVENIENCE! They offer shuttle services to almost anywhere you want to go, at a fraction of the price the taxis are currently trying to charge. THE FOOD: Amazing. This place has a great menu and the food is quite good! We often choose to eat right there because the prices are fair and we enjoy it. It’s great for people-watching the street and drinking a few beers. Try the local breakfast in the morning too! ATMOSPHERE: We love all the employees. There are two ladies that always work up front, both of which are very friendly and helpful, and even speak fair english…”
