The house

This is where it all started.

Casa Oro was the first hostel and the first surf school in San Juan del Sur. It's still on the same corner, one block from the central park. The other four houses, the café, the shuttles and the chocolate all grew up around this house.

Inside there's art and colorful murals everywhere, and walls that were eco-building experiments. On the second and third floors, the balcony wraps around the corner: a good spot to watch the town go by.

Café Oro is on the ground floor. Breakfast is included, and there's fiber internet and filtered drinking water. The beach shuttle leaves from the door, and you book surf, tours and transport at reception without leaving the building.

Amazing staff! so kind and helpful, every one of them!! Feels more like a hotel than a hostel, very clean… perfect central location and amazing shuttles to the beaches.

Best dorm I’ve stayed in, as all the beds have privacy curtains which makes a big difference.
